About the role:

Elemental Machines is looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join our Device Engineering Team in the creation of new IoT sensors and modules.  We are looking for someone who is excited about the challenges that come with the development of high-volume embedded systems that are used in life changing applications.  The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the entire development process that includes working with product management to understand and  create the product requirements, developing architectures that are scalable and allow for rapid development, and the entire process of moving concepts into volume production.

In this role you work closely with hardware developers, firmware developers, applications software developers and our verification team.

This is a full-time, salaried position.  We prefer the candidate to reside in the Greater Boston area and operate out of our Cambridge, MA office. 

   Responsibilities: 

  • You will work on a team of Embedded Software Engineers and Firmware Engineers in the development of IoT devices and gateways

  • In this role, you will be writing embedded software applications in Python and C/C++ that run on our IoT Gateway as well as on our complex IoT devices

  • As an individual contributor, you will collaborate with other members of the devices team to develop an architecture for a scalable platform that is both low cost and robust

  • You will need understand user requirements, contribute to the development of product requirements and participate in the entire product development life cycle

    Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or a related field

  • 5 years of experience in embedded software design

  • A keen understanding of embedded software development on ARM microprocessors running embedded Linux

  • Experience with Python and C/C++

  • Experience taking products from concept all the way through to production
