Elemental Machines is looking for a full time Mechanical Engineer to join our devices team in the development of industry leading IoT devices and sensors. In this role you will use modern engineering tools to create mechanical concepts for housings and packaging. There is a heavy emphasis on injection molded plastics. The mechanical engineer works closely with Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering, Operations and Quality to deliver designs to a high volume manufacturing environment.
Mechanical design for all Elemental Machines hardware products, including plastic housings and top level assemblies. Design activities will apply to both existing products and those that are still in development.
Modeling of designs using Solidworks
Documentation of completed assemblies
3D printing of models and maintenance of 3D printer
Design of packaging solutions, selecting and collaborating with packaging vendors
Design and documentation of test equipment and custom assembly fixtures using CAD as necessary, in coordination with Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering and Operations
Interfacing with plastics vendors
Specification and maintenance of all mechanical components
Development of cable assemblies, in coordination with Electrical Engineering
Participate in project meetings with contract manufacturers as needed
Support the generation of compliance documentation
3+ years of experience as a mechanical engineer, with a history of working with injection molded plastics
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Intermediate working knowledge of 3D modeling software, Solidworks preferred
Intermediate working Knowledge of 3D printing methods and techniques
Experience working in a quality management system such as ISO9001
Experience in moving products from development to production
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
