About the role:

Elemental Machines is looking for a full-time Manufacturing Operations Engineer to join our team.

This position will report to the Operations Manager and will be an integral member of Elemental Machines’ operations team. Responsibilities of this position will include supporting various
functions of the Operations Department including the assembly and fulfillment of products to customers, overseeing the supply chain of various components and products, driving the introduction of new products into the Production environment, supporting the Commercial Team as needed, and reporting on key performance indicators company stakeholders.

The ideal candidate is highly responsive to inter-departmental needs, technically-oriented, financially competent, and able to effectively communicate to multiple stakeholders at various levels of the organization.

This is a full-time, salaried position. The candidate must reside in the Greater Boston area and operate out of our Cambridge, MA office. 

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and track key performance targets, including: attainment, lead time, inventory value, cost of goods, and efficiency
  • Create and maintain metric dashboards for optimal planning and reporting
  • Lead the efficient introduction of new products from Engineering into the production environment, including the transition of supplier management responsibilities from R&D to Ops
  • Assist team of 3 technicians responsible for Assembly and Fulfillment of EM products, including inventory management and record retention
  • Ensure all internal processes and 3rd party suppliers have adequate capacity and supply on-hand to achieve company goals
  • Receives Part Change Notifications (PCNs) from component suppliers and facilitates the engineering review and potential impact of each notification
  • Collaborates with Quality to document and implement Change Orders, train staff, and maintain records necessary to support ISO 9001 compliance
  • Using Lean Methodology tools, drive the continual optimization of production processes and parameters to achieve the most effective use of our manufacturing capacity/resources
  • Act as subject matter expert for Elemental Machines’ ERP system (NetSuite)
  • Identify, escalate, and facilitate resolution of manufacturing, supply chain, or quality issues that may adversely affect performance goals
  • Provide general support for facilities management, as needed
  • Performs other related duties as required

Requirements:

  • BA/BS Degree required in an engineering discipline, preferably Industrial or Manufacturing
  • 2+ years’ experience involving Operations management in a complex technology context, with manufacturing and/or supply chain experience
  • Experience working with engineering teams to define, scope, and prioritize process requirements to ensure operational and manufacturing success
  • Experience and proven skill in written and verbal communications such as: reporting metrics, generating useful management and control reports, and articulating business cases for executive audiences
  • Experience in manufacturing/operations/supply chain analysis, and/or process improvement (e.g. Lean Six Sigma)
  • Experience using and implementing ERP systems. Familiarity with NetSuite is a plus
  • Ability to work with remote engineering teams and on-site operations technicians in a fast-paced, results-driven, and rapidly changing environment
  •  Adaptability of style and ability to work with people at all levels of the organization
  • Experience working for startup companies or high-growth organizations
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs, unassisted
